Importing contact information from an exported csv file into Google gmail contacts

google-gmail-contact-import column headersWith windows 8 coming out I have a lot of clients that are having problems with the new outlook 2013. For some of them the simplest way to improve their email and contacts is to move them to Gmail and gmail contacts.

One problem that I ran into was exporting their old outlook contacts in a .csv file and importing it into google contacts and trying to figure out how to get the columns to match up. That process took a moment and a little more effort than I would have liked. So to help you out should you be dealing with this issue I have created a list of title heads that google uses when you export your contacts from them. Google-Gmail-CONTACTS import headers for columns. I had great success importing CSV contact files once I started using this list and placing the right headers on the columns of information.

I hope it helps you out.

** NOTE:  there is a limit to the amount of contacts you can add at one time.  In my research I found a couple of numbers 2500 to 1500.  I make the contact lists under 1500 and have multiple imports.
Google (from the notes I found) does not go over 10,000 contacts in your database.
